The UNIROMA1 research unit belongs to the Department of Structural & Geotechnical Engineering of the Sapienza, University of Rome. The department has played a very important role in the development standard codes at national and European levels through research and active cooperation with European and International Associations. The combined scientific and technical expertise of the staff completely covers fire and wind hazards assessment, especially on multi-hazard interaction. In addition, the UNIROMA1 team has worked on the development of innovative techniques for a deep evaluation of the actual state of a cultural heritage site, on the structural modeling of historical buildings through advanced analyses, which include simulations on fire and smoke propagation and emergency evacuation in case of fire.
